FS: Devilbiss Tekna Copper

C

ChunkyLover53

Hi guys,

I used this Tekna copper for 2 jobs. I sprayed base coat and SPI clear through it. I haven't done much lately, and don't see myself using this for quite a while so I'd like to sell it to someone who would get good use out of it. I always will have my FLG 3 if something comes up. The tekna made me as a noob look half way decent, and I really believe that in the hands of skilled painters this gun can hang with the best of the guns.

I'm including everything that usually comes in it's package. The gun, dekups adapter, cup, lid, 1.3 and 1.4 fluid tip and needles, digital regulator, and the gun wrench.

If you have any questions just let me know. I would like $300 shipped to your door.

It's definitely a lot different than my Iwatas! The supplied 7E7 cap seems to really atomize the base, maybe too much? What air cap do you use for base, jeremy?

7e7. I find it shoots the wanda base well with a 1.4 tip as it likes to be sprayed a little on the wet side. Don't even have the hvlp cap so couldn't tell ya on that. I've tried it for clear...personally I prefer the w400 or sata rp over it for clear. Just can't seem to dial it in for clear for some reason.

Well, I've been using the purple cap Iwata for so long it just seems like I am blasting the base on there at the 22psi that is recommended for the Tekna, compared to the 14 or so psi for the Iwata, I want to go a bit lower and see how it goes.

Oh man! Compared to the iwata with purple cap...the tekna is like traveling at the speed of light! LOL. It is way quicker than the iwata. You may want to get the HVLP cap if the 7e7 doesn't cut it for you. The needle and nozzle stays the same like the iwatas, just change the cap.

It is fast! But I think I can get used to it. The Iwata is just a bit too touchy about being out of perpendicular, I can see right away that this Tekna will be less so just from the shape of the fan. The real test will be on a big truck front end in the center rear of the hood. Maybe if I lost a few pounds I could get my arm out there farther, lol.

I just shot a complete yesterday with this gun. I used a demo from the paint store. I'm in love! Super fast!

I'm very happy that this worked out so well.

I was using it for base and clear and you guys are 100% right. It is lighting fast, which is a little tough for me. I feel more comfortable going at a little slower pace.

Well I shot a bumper with it and it came out perfect, but the second thing I did was a 5 panel White Diamond 800J job with blends, and it came out a little mottled. I think I still need to get used to it, but then again the rest of the car was mottled too, so I guess I managed to match the factory finish, lol.

I am still looking at new guns and have an opportunity to try the tekna on demo. Do you still like it, crash? Better than the Iwata. It is certainly cheaper than the SATA RP

I'm pretty happy with it for base. I have not even tried to use it for anything else. Way different than the Iwata, smaller fan and needs to be farther away from the panel. It's more forgiving to being out of perpendicular to the panel than the Iwata.
