Frame Gloss Black

Hi Guys
I’m trying to get things lined up for a sandblasting of Riley’s 1979 K 10 frame. He has agreed that SPI is the product to use. How many coats of unreduced epoxy (4 hr induction) are recommenced on a great looking Daily Driver?. He also wants a nice bit of gloss on it. He considering Eastwood 2K ceramic chassis black.? Any suggestions or other ways you’d recommend?

Do 3 or 4 coats of epoxy, see if the gloss lever will meet his wants.
If not you have seven days to spray a Single Stage black but good God, not what was mentioned.

I've never tried simply clearing the epoxy, but I might test it if someone wanted gloss. I actually don't keep black single stage around since giving up my old mixing system.

I've cleared a small piece that was only black epoxy. I found it to be pretty decent really, it doesn't quite have the depth or blackness of a black SPI base, but its not bad by any means. Its definitely worth a look and it might surprise you.

I cleared over gray epoxy on a frame for a '32 Ford street rod. The customer saw it on a vehicle I was working on and said it was the color he wanted the frame, except gloss. Sprayed 2 coats of the epoxy on a blasted frame and cleared the next day. Came out great and he loved it.

I have some Universal Clear ( 6 yrs old - never opened). That I could try after the coats are dry. I’ll shooter the same epoxy on a test panel and clear it to see if we like it. I’ll report back.
