Flex 3403 vs PE14.

Any guys who have or have used these I’m looking for opinions on them. I saw the one complaint about the 3403 is the high pitched whine it makes. I watched a video comparing the sound.
Any other input on them?

The 3403 died on me not too long ago, I’ve had it for probably around 6 years but it’s not like I used it every day or even every week. Haven’t bothered to send it out to be repaired, have no clue if it’s the trigger or something more serious, the brushes don’t look too far gone.

My PE-14 still keeps on going but I only use it sporadically as well, not sure what else to say about them. I don’t think they make the 3403 anymore so there must be a reason for it to be discontinued.

i just got a 3403 maybe 2 mos ago. i dont find there to be any annoying high pitch whine. atleast no more than any other buffer or elec power tool i have ever used. its not a loud buffer at all. actually i find it to be quite quiet. it gets about 6hrs per week of continuous use around here. i find the 3403 to be a really nice piece. its light, powerful for its size and balanced well. i do like it better than my metabo. it runs cooler and i have not had a problem with it shutting down on overheat. i liked my metabo but one faulty bearing took out the whole machine after just a couple few years. just remember that the buffers in this class are not "heavy duty". they are continuous duty but not meant to swing a full size pad and run that for hours on end like a makita or dewalt. a 6" pad is what they are meant for and will run them no problem for extended periods providing your not pushing heavily on it....which you shouldnt be anyway.

the 3403 is normal loudness for a buffer. nothing annoying. its pretty typical and what i would expect. its no louder than my makita or dewalt. i think that 14 is just very quiet. if you notice in the video, alot of the sound is coming from him sitting the buffer down on that table. you notice when he picks up the 3403 in his hand its much quieter then he sits it down and you hear the table resonating. you really cant go by this anyway since its a video and how a microphone picks it up. all you can do is take note of the comparison between the two. honestly at 1:16 when he turns on the 14 i think that is way louder than the 3403. im sure you cant go wrong with either one though.

you know i just pulled out my buffer to do a quick polish on my boat. this video really exaggerates the sound. both sound really loud in the video. nothing like in person. at speeds that we would normally buff at my makita cordless drill is louder than the 3403. now with this thread making me take notice and just trying it its prob one of the quietest buffers i have used. running it typically at 1400-2000.

Thanks for the info. This is exactly what I asked for. Real people with actual experience with the tool.
