Fixing runs

I sprayed single stage yesterday, today I tried to fix a run by cutting it with a blade and sanding. The area is darker than the surrounding area. Will this lighten up with time or will I likely have to respray?

Did you use a darker sealer? If yes I’m guessing you sanded down too far and now you’re not getting coverage of your sealer.

White can be a real PITA. DAMHIK… :)

Texas got me hooked on Tolecut squares and their little hard blocks for fixing runs. Helps keep the sanding focused on the run without sanding down the adjacent material.

The sealer is just reduced epoxy, gray. I used all epoxy, no 2k. The color isn’t actually white, it’s Mini Cooper ice blue. Not sure why it looks kinda white in the pic. It’s actually a greenish color. Hmmm

I think you sanded almost down to your sealer.

I had a screw up just before I was going to put down my first coat that delayed me. I likely exceeded the 2 hour pot life for my first two coats. Would that cause the lower coats to be darker than the upper coats? I just remembered that.

Tolecut squares, I’ll have to check those out. The run was barely noticeable, I should have left it alone but I can never just leave things alone…

Thank you
Jason

Youll have to respray it, but luckily you can mask off just that section and touch it up instead of respraying the entire panel.

This tolecut squares and blocks is a real good thing to have to correct small imperfections. Had never heard of them but now I know how good they are to have in stock. Being a newbie on this field,I pretty sure I will need them. Thanks to Don for mentioning it on the conversation and also to Texasking for the link.
