Fine tuning difficult body lines

Amen John.... I was getting in an emotional low on the Dart as it seemed like I was getting no where on blocking.... Yesterday I shot 2 more coats of high build and did small area with 320 before I quit for the night and it blocked out perfect.... I can see the light.... You just have to push through...

Jim, If you are still blocking high and low spots, isn't 320 pretty fine? It is going to be slow go and an awful lot of work.

I would stick with the 180 or maybe 220 until I got it fine tuned. Finish that with a good coat of epoxy and your sand scratches will be gone.

The first FIVE sessions were using 180. This old girl is much worse than the other 2 I did. I will have gone through 2 gallons of high build where I only had a couple of sessions and 1 gallon with the other 2. I was fairly sure I was ready for the 320 (but I have thought that before!) but this time I was right.

Yep, that car was a definite candidate for polyester primer. Sorry I didn't recommend it early on. Could have saved you 5 of those steps.

Still haven't got time to get back to pictured project, but I may do a skimcoat of vette panel adhesive on upper body lines and custom sailpanel extension as next step . I got the wheel flare to quarter panel better last year with minimal filler , but stuck with a high spot at top that I have no choice now but to skim around. At least there's a lot of curve to kill off extra filler needed quickly as opposed to stock quarters.
Driving to local shows as is for now.
