Final Buff

Presta is the same as MALCO just without the fancy package.
Interesting. "Presta" just called me back as I was writing this, and they were actually "Malco", which is the parent company. The rep told me that the Presta products target body shops, the Malco products target detailers, and that the products are "similar", produced in the same factory, but not exactly the same (which might mean different formulations, or just different packaging, but he led me to believe it was the formulations. In this case the product could be identical but they're targeting different markets as you suggest, and you may have first hand knowledge of that.) He mentioned that Malco's "True Grit" for instance, is the counterpart to Presta's "Ultra Cutting Compound", but did not give me specific comparisons beyond that, except that they have a Malco polish and a Malco swirl remover as well.

He recommended the following steps in the Presta line:
Ultra Cutting Compound - use a 100% wool pad like their black and white one.
Ultra Polish (the old "Chroma 1500") - use their green wool pad, a hybrid of wool and synthetic fibers to reduce cutting.
Swirl Remover - use their blue foam pad

So there's one avenue I might go down. Still listening...

if your too damn cheap to spend 21.99 for 4 4oz bottles of compound then use river mud and a red rag. i wish i had just kept all my opinions to myself . i wont make that mistake again .

I used to use Presta's swirl remover but the detail shop was complaining about swirls, so I had to move to something even finer.

Hey, just because we offer an opinion doesn't mean anyone is obliged to listen. It's not like he insulted you or something. I thought old critters were supposed to have thick hides? ;)

Shine worded that so perfect i hear gravely frog voice with ashes falling off smoke as spoken :)
I just rechecked old order and price i saw for $40 earlier was other sellers. I paid $21
Rdrans- it's worth it. It's a 4 bottle trial kit 4oz each. Goes a pretty long way.
Dave Duddley? is old country singer i heard grumble the words.

Presta is good stuff IMO. I like it. Take it out to 5000 Trizact. Save yourself some buff time. Presta Ultra on a 3M 5708 double sided pad. Remove any ultra fine swirls with 3m Ultrafina SE (6068) polish on a 3m Ultrafina pad (5733). Keep the ultrafina wet, don't let it dry. Ultrafina works as good as anything I've ever used for removing ALL swirls in any color including black. Do it right it'll look absolutely perfect. 2 steps and you are done. Presta cleans up well and the Ultrafina cleans up very well.

Sorry couldn't help myself. :)

I’ll admit - I have a hard time getting the previous scratches out . I always seem to find 1000 grit or 1200 grit after I’m done —-so - my system cheats probably. I start with a wool pad at about 2800 RPM With presta “super cut”. After that I use another wool pad and take Jim C’s advice and use Sonax cutmax then after that a white chemical guys pad with #36 then black pad and # 38 ( if it’s a dark car) or straight to # #38 with black pad after the Sonax if it’s a light colored car. Sounds like a lot of steps but after the Presta super cut it goes fast

Is this response directed toward me? I'm just trying to learn stuff. I'm trying to be polite by acknowledging inputs from everyone. I haven't chosen any product. Please clarify.

Your technique is very similar to mine just with different products.
Twisted wool pad and M-100 (previously used M105 but the M100 works more like the CG products and cuts much better)
Lake Country foam pad and CG v34 (previously used M205)
Lake Country foam pad and Menzerna FF3800
This gets me real close to perfect.
