I have to do a fiberglass repair on the bottom edge of a 1989 Jeep Wrangler fiberglass top. I am also changing the color from a tan color to matte black. What do you guys use to restore the "textured look" in the fiberglass, before applying a matte black finish? I'll probably sand with 180 and apply a few coats of epoxy, sand and before applying the matte black, what do I put over the epoxy for a textured appearance? I was thinking maybe SEM chip guard?
 
I think the Jeep tops are actually SMC, who makes the best material to repair SMC? I was going to use SEM 2-part repair material with fiberglass mat. Can I spray matte black over Raptor Liner?
 
I have never tried to restore the textured look on one, believe it or not. So I will be following this thread.
 
SEM has a texture spray that you can vary the drop size by distance sprayed.
Polyvance.com has a good hardset filler for SMC.
