Epoxy wait time

NextGen Classics

Floor sweeper
I see most recommend 24 to 48 hours minimum before applying Slicksand to epoxy. What about when you only shoot one coat of epoxy? 70 degrees. Is it the same? I am not rushing this, I just don't want to go past my window to shoot it. This can be a general question about epoxy too. Is one medium to wet coat of epoxy good for 7 days?
Thanks

I have some of the same questions. When using epoxy reduced 50% for sealer, how long before base, minimum? After 2 medium wet coats of epoxy, how long before filler? Overnight doesn't seem long enough for best epoxy to metal adhesion, but seems to be much better after 2 nights. Overnight and most of the day in the sun seems to work great, also. How much does all day in the sun shorten the 7 day window? Not trying to hijack the thread, just seems all related.

Epoxy mixed 1:1:1 (50% reduction) you can base in 30 minutes. One to two hours would be preferable though. 2 coats of epoxy with proper flash times between and temps at 70 degrees minimum throughout, you'd want to wait a minimum of 24 hours. IMO 48 hours is preferable. Then you have up to 7 days from application of the epoxy to apply body filler. You are correct about the sun. Setting it out in the sun for a day definitely speeds the process. Overnight and a full day in the sun should be good enough,(close to 24 hours) I can't speak in absolutes as even when I set something in the sun I still wait the minimum which is 24 hours.

From the tech sheet:
Spraying:
Spray two wet coats for normal applications. For special projects such as restorations
Spray one coat and let it flash about 10-30 minutes at 70° degrees or higher. Then spray
second coat for maximum corrosion protection. If one coat of epoxy is used wait 60
minutes before painting.

I would wait at least 24 hours before applying slick sand though Nextgen. Normal wait is 48 hours for 2 coats unreduced. Single coat unreduced I'm not sure, which is why I say at least 24. Definitely would not apply slick sand one hour after applying the epoxy. Check with Barry or maybe he will weigh in.

Two coats of epoxy is best for maximum protection on bare metal, now your question about time frame to spray a polyester, the rules remain the same.
There are so many variables here and polyester can cause so many problems with wicking best to wait 48 ours or TWO FULL NIGHTS or up to 7 days to spray.
