Epoxy over powder coat ?

Got a gas tank for my project. Its new and came powder coated . I don't like the color and finish. Can I just scuff it and shoot a couple coats of epoxy and be done with it ?

Yes best way is 320 by hand or 180 on a DA, clean and shoot.
Never heard of this before what is it too?

Its on a 55 Chevy. The tank is from Summit and came powder coated. Just not happy. Appears to be a spectra tank so its all good. Id rather it not stand out anyway..Thanks as always, Happy Anniversary BTW..

Timely post. Looking to do a color change on PC chassis and I think I've come up with a quick and easy way to prep it. This PC is so tough my light duty sand blaster gives it a nice textured finish with out stripping the PC. And even if it does, it's will be sound foundation for the epoxy.
