epoxy on metal patio furniture

Now that the 67 vette is done, on to bigger and better things. We have a set of patio furniture that has paint peeling off it. The metal surface is chalky too. I was thinking of media blasting it, then SPI epoxy, but want a dark drown shade of color. Would tinting white epoxy require too much pigment and thus weaken it? I could find a suitable color in a Rustoleum rattle can, but would like a better quality paint that will hold up well outdoors. Any suggestions if there's a better way to prep and paint to get the color I desire.

actually the rustolem paint will be ok. blasting and a good heavy coat of epoxy will do wonders. there are several tiers of rustolem paint.

Rust oleum hammerite is one of the best outdoor metal rattle can paints & texture is pretty pleasing looking for furniture. Did my newly fabbed steprails about 8 years ago with the black color, which is actually charcoal.

I did bare metal since hammerite is decent & spray can primers are crap, but that was before having spi. Small chips from impact without epoxy underneath = rust.

Get a good coating on the bare metal & spray can color touchups when needed will be much easier.
