Epoxy below the waterline?

Read with great interest! I want to paint my Sun Ray. It is in excellent condition, very few nicks/dings and so forth. The graphics are outdated and the main reason for the repaint. I was simply going to use epoxy primer, then single stage white or even base/clear.

Opinions and options are welcomed

At least use single stage SPI if it's garaged, but I would be inclined to use Interlux Polyurethane. Do you have ablative bottom paint? If it stays in the water then only Interlux or similar. Pretty big boat?

My Sun Ray is 24'. Never stays in the water more than a couple days. She's 24'

Yea thats a classic! Nice boat too. Single stage would be much cheaper than Interlux I suspect. Make damn sure you spend the time to prep/sand/prep properly, else you’ll have an expensive mess.

Sweet boat! I don't know diddly about boating but I do like your vessel. The graphics are perfect for that model.
(You mentioned opinions were welcome so here is mine) Being in excellent condition, why change anything?
If something needs to be repaired, yeah, fix that, but I would definitely not repaint it just to update its appearance. It's cool just the way it is!
If it is vintage with good original paint, I would just leave it alone and maintain it as best I could.

It is quite dirty in both pictures and cleans up nicely. Still... considering...

I will post a picture of the deck
