Edge mapping fix.

Not sure if this is the right spot to post this but I need some advice.
Spraying base (pro spray) today on fenders and have a spot where I must not have sanded well enough. I can see the outline of the glazing compound and it is on the top in plain view.
What is the best way to repair this? No clear just base over 2k.
Thanks in advance,
Jim

With 400-1000 wet you can sand the base down to block out if minor enough and re-base it. 99 times out of 100 that is all you need to do.

If bad, block the base down and spray a couple coats of primer over it bad block and paint.

A trick i like to do is scuff with the indasa sanding sponges,, i lightly go over everything then put on another coat. Works surprisingly good. also a good way to get dirt nibs out of the base, and it keeps it dry.

?? Are you talking their 2000 and 4000 da sponge pads??

Never thought of that.

I block sanded it with 1500 wet, wiped it down with W&G remover then let it dry. Shot the area with a couple of light coats then re-shot the whole fender. Cleared it and I think it'll be fine.
Thanks.

nope they are 800 grit.. I had to have warehouse special order them for me, as they never heard of them. I usually order 3 cases at a time now when i get down to my last case because just about everyone i showed them to uses them on just about every job..

The nice thing about them is that you can de-nib a whole car in only a few minutes..
You don't really dig in and sand with them, you just lightly go over the surface, if there is a imperfection it will show and you can go over it a little bit more.

I also use them to scuff panels before basecoat instead of the sanding paste. Gives good tooth for adhesion and not the watery mess.
works good for blending panels also. Fine enough clear will cover the scratches.

So you are using 800 grit pads to go over your base coat prior to the final coat of base? And you are doing this dry? No scratches showing through when done?
