Does gray SPI epoxy primer need to be top-coated?

Hello - Glad to be joining the forums as a new member! I am restoring a C3 corvette and want gray wheel wells, underside and engine compartment, like an old school race car. I will be using the gray SPI epoxy primer for sure. Now the question is does it need to be top-coated in those areas, because of the long term UV effects? The car will be garaged.

Welcome to the forum!
If the area is not exposed to direct sunlight, it will be fine to leave it in SPI epoxy permanently if you wish.

I will say I used SPI red epoxy on the roof of my 56 Chevy sitting out in my yard in full California sun a few months ago. Talked to Barry about it first and explained that it is a temporary "protection" coat on the roof until I can get around to the project. Barry was ok with it as long as it is being stripped off before the car is painted. It laid down unreduced like a topcoat and so far it looks perfect - no flaking, lifting or anything. got to be careful to clean off the bird crap every once in a while though as that stuff is toxic!
