Do you guys combine & mix your paint?

I’ve got three gallons of solid color Motocryl single stage. I’ll be painting the truck in pieces…
Should I combine all three gallons, mix and then separate back to the three gal containers in order to ensure there are no color/shade differences? Or are they already an accurate mix that won’t vary any from one container to the next if all prepared and purchased at the same time?

Should be accurate, but if you have a large enough container to do it, do it. Then you will be sure to have all the exact same color. It's still possible to have panels be different if the paint is sprayed at different temperatures, gun pressures, or gun speed or distance. That is more of a concern with fine metallics and pearls then with a solid color.

Thanks all for the input.
This is my first spray so I’m afraid color/shade variations will be the least of my problems with the end result..

If this is a job you care about I think it would be a good idea to mix all three gallons thoroughly. What I did was buy two buckets two and a half gallon each from Amazon.

I poured everything into both buckets, then poured from bucket to another mixing with a paint stick each time.
After that I poured about 2 gallons back into the original cans and the remainder into quart size canning jars with modified lids. I covered the the sealing side of the lids with aluminum tape meant for HVAC ducks (4" wide x 4 mil thick). This way the gummy rubber that comes on the canning jar lids will not be exposed to solvents.

BTW, I bought exactly 3 gallons of Motocryl from Chad in Michigan. It sprays well and covers in one coat. I spayed four.

thanks. I’m thinking I will spray 3 coats this trip. Then in June use 600 to sand out the trash, orange peel and possible runs before spraying two more. Never done this before so sure hoping I can get it to lay down smoother than the epoxy…

i mix and pour into qrt cans. so i can use all of it by rinsing the can. last qrt in a gallon is a liars qrt.
