Devilbiss GTI or Plus for BC/CC

Getting ready to shoot my 1968 Camaro. I'm doing a red BC/CC on top of SPI epoxy and high build primers.

I've already got a couple harbor freight guns that I plan to use for primer. I can handle them quite well and have done several jobs with them. One of the guns I plan to drill out the tip from a 1.4 to a 2.0 to accommodate the high build primer. I've read in a couple places that this works.

For the BC/CC, I'm deciding between the Devilbiss GTI and Plus:

The GTI is an HVLP gun that comes with a 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 tip. I'm familiar with HVLP guns and know to use the 1.3 tip for base and 1.4 tip for clear.

The Plus is a non-HVLP gun which is new to me. It comes with smaller tips of 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4. Everywhere I've read has pointed to the Plus as being a better choice over the GTI. However, I've got reservations because it is non-HVLP and that would be a "new" thing for me.

Questions:
1) The Plus gun comes with a smaller range of tips. To me, this would indicate that I should step down the tip size I would normally use and use 1.2 for the base and 1.3 for the clear. But the SPI clear tech sheet clearly says use a 1.4 tip. So I'm wondering why the Plus would have a smaller ranged set of tips.
2) What are the differences in how these guns handle? Does the Plus throw more paint allowing me to move faster? That may not really be a benefit for me as I feel like I have more control when I'm moving slow.

I've adjusts 100's of the plus guns over the phone this year alone, don't overthink this, let the gun companies make guns and whatever paint you use listen to that paint company.
Bases and clears with the 1.4 tip of the plus gun works fantastic.

Oh! Ditto for the GTI.
