Dessicant in oven

Seen this before but could not find it in search: How long and at what temperature can dessicant be dried in an oven? Thanks

needs to be on a cookie pan as thin as you can get it, either way you will have to flip in mix into the cooking.
325 or so and it will take 4-5 hours depending how much you have and how thick in the pan.

Also broiler works best.

You can pick new up for around one to two bucks a pound at an air compressor sales/service shop. Everywhere else is a rip off.

thats right, when i used a dessicant type dryer i would get it in 50lb boxes and i remember i costing me about $70-$80 delivered. the stuff was not even worth trying to regenerate. by the time you pay to run an over for all those hours its a wash.

I agree, it is not worth the hassle, I had to do mine when I bought a new DAD500 and like a dummy, I did not open the box until the day I installed and planed on painting that weekend and the desiccant had a hole in the bag and turned white.

Then, spill some on the floor and listen to the wife--not worth it--Period.

I spilt some in the kitchen a year ago. Im still finding those little basterds today. :( You can dry them in a microwave. There is instructions on the net. Next time I regenerate mine, thats what I will do. I have an old microwave not for food in the shop.

I bought a cheap desiccant dryer for my air system from Harbor Freight (Item 97686 - about $40). It came with a 2 lb. bag of silica gel and they sold 2 lb. refills for $4.99 (Item 97924). I should say, used to sell. Not sure what happened but they no longer sell either. Read something about "Cobalt Chloride (II) (normally Blue or Pink Silica Gel) which is classified as a IARC Group 2B carcinogen." Group 2B is "possibly carcinogenic to humans," which means that it's probably as dangerous as the food I eat. I bought three bags a while back so I guess I'll be using the garage microwave for more than popcorn. Microwave the silica gel on high for 7 to 8 minutes in a microwave safe dish (Pyrex?) and immediately transfer it to a sealed container (but not a Ziploc bag). I figure a quart paint can might work.

I use the orange to green silica. Dont have the cobalt in it ive heard.
