denib process

HI Guys,

I saw this question in another post but no answer, but how do you go about cleaning your sealer or base if you denib it? I have a little trash in some epoxy as a sealer and I don't want to go messing it all up (again).

about a week ago I sealed my trunk, waited until the next morning and decided to take a grey scotch brite to some of the trash. Afterwards I tried using wax and grease remover but it seemed that it was too aggressive and some of the epoxy transferred to the towel I was using, so I assume this process was wrong. Do you just sand it, zap it with some air and continue?

Thanks for any tips or suggestions!

You want to be very careful not to expose the sealed surface to contaminants, since it is sometimes too fresh to use any kind of cleaner on. If it's just a little bit of work, I will use 600 dry, not touching the surface with anything but the sandpaper. A blower will help remove loading from the paper. If I have to wet sand next day like that, I will sometimes use Sprayway glass cleaner to remove the residue. It's fairly mind, and doesn't leave anything behind.

would something like windex work? I think I've read of people doing this before but not sure.

I don't know about Windex. You'd be on your own with that. Best thing is not to touch it at all, except lightly with dry clean sandpaper in a gloved hand.
