Hey all, looking for some advice painting the dash in my 61 Impala and it's my first interior paint job. Window is removed and I have the dash mostly stripped to bare metal- except for the tricky spots
First off should I remove all of the paint from the vents and tight spots or should a good scuff do,? Seems to be a ton of work to get all of that removed
After I prep, I'm going to spray some SPI epoxy, possibly some 2K depending on how good the surface is, blocked to 400 and then SPI reduced epoxy as sealer.
I'm was planning on spraying red base and then clear with some flattener. Any suggestions here on spraying the clear w/ flattener and getting it smooth as possible as far as orang peel as I don't believe you sand and buff the dash. I'm also doing the steering wheel and column- are those typically buffed?
Or should I go with a single stage? Any advice would be appreciated- thanks
