Cutting compounds

Shine you're right about how splatter free the V's are. I've only used a handful of different compounds over the yrs but i'll say it's winner in that catagory. Nice when u need to buff a spot quick and a guy like me that likes to use more then a few drops...as of now.

haha wow. funny i am just the opposite with foam atleast. wool i wash but foam i dont feel they really start working until the pad gets compound all worked into it. in the old days of using compounds like presta cutting creme i would wash every job or more since those would like to actually clog the pad and glaze over. now though with the newer compounds i might wash the pad 4-6 times through its life.

Jim C, when talking about these foam pads, are you referring to a rotary buffer, or dual action polisher ? I took your advice and ordered the Eagle yellow 1000, Tolex, and the green Buflex pads. Just trying to get a complete plan together for start to finish.

Good question...i have use the QG pads with rotary 6” ,5” da 8mm and long trow 21mm

for cutting foam i will use the yellow hexlogic pads or lake country. either one are fine. i have a black 3m waffle and hex logic for polishing. both work well.

This was done with LC prple wool foamed pad really love this pad amazing..did a test with 300 and 400,,i like the 400 way better work time is longer cuts the tolex like nothing will be trying the yellow 1500 later with these same compounds and purple wool at this point may have to work it more with 1500 dry ..finished with QG black and 3500 (a must try) menzerna

Looks great @Danny23, I'm seriously considering ordering that purple wool foam pad to finish my son's Mustang. How do you clean the pad, does it load up bad with polish? Also what size backing pad are you using?

I got the 6” For the little testing i did didnt load up but if it does i will change to a new one or i use a microfiber clean towel and run the buffer and clean the surface pad with little pressure when is spinning but i will get 3-5 pads so i can just grab a new one if im doing a compleate car they are not expensive you can get 3-4 or 6 for a good price
