Cut and Buff Single Stage

If I make my own single stage out of universal clear and basecoat do I cut a buff the same way as I would if it were just clearcoat

I trust you would only do this for door jambs as not a good idea for allover.
Bases have different CABs in them, clears don't and don't like them long term.
For jambs under hood and deck lids great but never for an outside paint job.

Past tense. I shot the underbody, trunk and wheelwells. Mainly so I could be done with it in 2 coats. In retrospect not sure if it was worth it

Mixing base and clear is a collision repair technique meant for speed that is not a good idea to perform on anything nice. Such mixes are not durable. You could try to buff it but it will probably turn out weird. Color sanding is probably not going to work well at all if the base is metallic.

Can you define durable? Adhesion or cosmetic?

This was all SPI products
Durable as in UV, weather, and chemical resistance. If there is epoxy underneath you won't have to worry about corrosion, but such blended finishes aren't expected to hold up for the long term.
