Funny how one tends to stick with what they're familiar with and in my case that's Meguiar's 105 and 205. Been using it for years and I "think" I'm happy with it lol. I've never been able to get away from a wool pad with 105 (I finish sand up to 2500 so using wool seems like I'm going backwards). I've tried orange pads with it but the 105 just doesn't cut with foam (for me anyway). I use use a rotary only for cut and buff on new finishes although I also have dual action which doesn't see much action except an occasional fine polish of an existing aged finish.thats what i like about the v series. it does not dry out and make a mess. you dont get the dry buff you have to wipe it down with a rag.

this one is for the buffer. it becomes a soft inner pad. my bad i like them instead of the hard flex plate.Shine

the meguires 105 is the 3m perfect it compound with fillers and shine enhancers added to it and packaged under the meguires brand. I used it for awhile and like most of the 3m compounds, they seem to work great then the scratches just come back. its great for detailers who need to get a car looking good for a couple days and out the door.
I will be doing some sanding and buffing on Monday with the sonax and give some feedback. I cant say that its more messy. it actually seems cleaner and definitely leaves a cleaner surface but the menzerna you can work more. you can just keep on going with it. atleast that is my take so far.
i havent used any of their compounds. i like their foam pads though and the pad cleaner is bad ass. the sonax im using is the cutmax compound
