Cleaning plastic inner fender panels

95 Ford truck, I am cleaning the engine compartment and wondering what you guys use to clean the black plastic inner fender panels on vehicles like these? I have both types of W&G remover, but I am not sure if it will be too harsh on them. Also once clean what, if anything, can keep them looking black?

Wash the dirt off with soap and water, if there is tar stuck to it take a razor blade and scrape off what you can then use the 710 to soften up the rest. Wash it again then clean with 710. Urethane Supply has a great cladding coat product in aerosols that stick like glue. Ask them for the blackest black. Their Honda black is more grayish.

goto walmart in the car section and get a bottle of wesleys bleach white. you can also goto home depot and they have zep industrial degreaser in a 5 gal jug. both of these products are the same thing. both are sodium hydroxide cleaners which is what is in oven cleaner. it will melt off dirt, grease, oil, road grime, bugs, tar. pretty much anything. i probably go through 15-20 gal of the zep stuff each year. i use it for everything. you can spray your whole engine compartment with it, give is a quick power washer rinse and it will look like brand new. even melts off the dead rubber on your tires or hoses.
