Cleaning Aluminum Wheels

Crash, I was in school when those were all the rage. Everybody wanted a set of those or the slotted directionals for their Cutlass.

If I remember correctly you had to show proof of a rat tail or Camaro hair to purchase a set. Those were great times. :)

the eagle mag cleaner that shine is talking about foams up and reacts with the aluminum. leaves a nice matte white look to the wheel. its the same thing as the zep industrial cleaner mentioned earlier. i always get that in 5's. i use it on everything. from there they will be super clean and you can just lightly polish real quick with metal polish to bring back that semi-shine. the mag cleaner may be phosphoric acid. not sure its been years since i used it. the zep stuff is sodium hydroxide base clear like oven cleaner or tire cleaner like westleys bleach white.

might try CLR on them for water spots.
just checked and they still make it. i may well have phosphoric acid in it. you could try some ospho on the back of the wheel. but it did the best job on intakes and such. we had centerlines on the race car and they looked new.
