cleaning after media blasting

guys any tips on how not to get your cleaning towel ripped apart by the surface after media blasting?
i have fibers stuck to the metal everywhere

well you learned the hard way to never wipe down a blasted surface. if i clean my blasted metal i will spray with w&g remover until its dripping then ill blow it dry and go right to epoxy. since you already did it, just follow shine's advise or reblast it.

Thanks guys. Its for door jambs and tight areas i'll re blast and soak it then air dry it

How long should it sit after soaking and air drying blasted metal?

i blast the wash with dawn soap with a white brush. rinse well then blow dry. soon as it's dry epoxy it.

would mixing w&g remover with deionized water and applying with power washer have any benifit?

I'm kinda with Jim C on this subject, but it highly depends on the quality of the blast media and of the air supply. We've had good luck just blasting with crushed glass then blowing off with air, but then again we've done a lot of work on our air supply and live in a real dry climate. YMMV.

I like to clean the metal before blasting, and use crushed glass which is clean, then use a soft stainless steel brush with compressed air before epoxy. The dust doesn't seam to stick as much to stainless.

When I blast, I interact with the surface as little as possible. For what its worth, I am in a very warm and very humid climate, with no special moisture prevention on my air supply except for the fact that its a nice, industrial quality compressor.

So typically I was the car/component just to get the road grime off and what not with dawn and let it dry.
Then blast.
Then vaccuum vaccuum vaccuum with the shop vac. Blow compressed air to dislodge media in crooks and crannies.. Blow air with one hand while operating the vacuum with the other hand. As Strum, mentioned, maybe a little careful use with a scothbrite on tight areas like engine bays and door jambs(but they will tear).

From there, its right to epoxy. I have seen Jim for years talk about wetting and drying bare metal, but I still dont like it. I dont know if its partly due to the iron in my water, or the 95% humidity thats typical, but I have never been able to do that and not have rust the next day(and I dont mean that slight tinge of rust color that I forget the name of).

you will never blow or vacuum media out of a car. i wash with dawn then blow dry and epoxy . my big compressor blows oil since it is a screw compressor. epoxy as soon as it is dry .
