Candy orange Jeep Wrangler project

Hi, this is my first post on the site I have been following it for a while now. I was wondering if somebody might give me some advice on a candy paint job I'm going on my Jeep Wrangler I got the rolling chassis done and I am pleased with the way it came out but now to the body. I smoothed out all the body lines, and made Fender flares and welded them on everything is blocked out. But now I'm a little concerned about spring that candy on the body because of the fenders. There are hardly no straight lines. I'm not sure how to get even coat because there are a lot of sharp right angles. I don't know if I should put less of the candy concentrate in the blender . I tried to add some pictures. I don't know if they uploaded or not, but any advice would be appreciated. Thanks image (12).jpeg

Hi EZ, sorry I don't have an answer to your question other than to call the MAN at 407-307-9740, but hopefully some folks will chime in here. So far your project looks great!! I've always been a fan of orange can hardly wait to see your Jeep painted!!

well orange atleast is one of the easier candies to shoot but as with any candy it can be a tough deal to get it even and blotch free. the less concentrated you make the color the better off you will be. mix the orange candy dye into the silver to make a metallic orange just a couple shades lighter than your final color then put the candy over that. it will be much more forgiving.

i think you are thinking of the kbc line.....maybe? the candies with the pearls mixed into it.

Thanks everybody for the replies and advice. The color concentrate is DuPont's hot hues . I mix it in the chroma base system that my local paint store mixes. They just mix half binder and half something else basically a clear basecoat, but I been reading on here that SPI inner coat clear will work, as I use up all the materials I have. I'm trying switch everything I can over to SPI been using their epoxy and love it. I did get the underneath and firewall painted today. It went on a lot better than I thought it would had one or two spots that were light that I couldn't get my iwata gun in but I was able to dust them with a touchup gun and you would have to know where it was to really see any difference, going to clear tomorrow morning will try to get some pics to put up thanks again for all the advice everyone I had another question for Jim C if I mix of little die into my silver metallic, will it still have the same metallic effect when I put the candy over thanks

Thanks, Jim C I will try that trick when I get ready to spray the outside of that sure would make it a lot easier. It makes it nice being able to have someone that is done it before

Jim C there's another question I would like to ask I have to paint the hood in doors off of it because it has stainless hinges and they all mount on the outside. If I mix all the concentrate at the same time and keep same distance and speed. Do you think the color will come out a match again, thanks for the advice and tips

well those techniques certainly help but with a candy you will need to take the door and hold it up to the jeep body to visually check to see if its light or dark. i spray alot of sportbikes. some have 20 or more pieces that fit together but they are all sprayed at the same time and even then i always have to hold the parts up to one another to check and make adjustments.

consistency is key, I would paint all the parts at the same time and set them up vertically (doors) or horizontally (hood) the same as they are mounted on the car.

Thanks again everyone for all the advice I will make sure to hang all the parts in the right orientation as they would be on the jeep

kbc is what i was talking about jim . it's a pretty good base for a candy job . lot easier than a candy concentrate over silver or gold ..

I got the clear on this morning All in all, I don't think he came to bed had a couple spots that a little bit of blasting media must came out of. I don't know how I pressure washed it blew it off half a dozen times there in places You'll never see, so I don't think a more worry about it too much, since it is only a daily driver. Thanks again for all the adviceIMG_0199.JPG

hi everyone, I would like to put some pics up of where I was on my project I have been working on the interior. This is my first time at trying to do upholstery work it was a little bit of a learning curve to cut out the patterns and sew them together hoping to get the inside finished in the next week or two, I still have to wire the dash make some covers paint the air vents cover the steering wheel and some little odds and ins then pull it all black out for final sanding and then hopefully paint. Thanks again for all the help everybody on here
