There is a good sale going on at Chemical Guys and was thinking of getting a new buffer. I have used an orbital air buffer for yrs. and was thinking of trying a random machine. There are so many brands to choose from. I would like to get your recommendations on the best bang for the buck. Thanks

I have a makita, but from what I have heard on the forum, you would be well advised to check on the flex

Shine I am 65 and hope to do 2 more overalls .My 69 Vette basket case and a friends 55 Chevy. I think he should buy the buffer lol? Thanks to all for your input.

flex is for old guys like me .......

I guess I fall in that category, cause I love mine and highly recommended them, you can find them used at a good price on Ebay and often thought of getting another one just to have a spare.

flex at 4.5 lbs, the rest come in at around 11 lbs . and yes the housing gets hot. it is still an 11 amp motor but in a smaller frame.

i still have a 14 lb b&d . still have my air buffer . i use lake country or hex logic pads and chemical guys compounds . i use rotary.

I use schlegel 2" round-up for cutting and a perfect-it pad for polish. Meguires for compounding and a 50/50 mix of finesse-it and 3m hand glaze. The mix is something I came up with years ago and works real well for no swirls after buffing.
I would like to get an orbital for absolute final polish but for cutting and polish a rotary is the only way to go..

What Flex model are you guys talking about? They look very nice!

I'm not sure what model number mine is there are/were 2 models one had a higher topspeed then the other but either one are outstanding units. Look at the Ebay link I posted that looks just like mine, if your in the market that is a nice buffer. If you would still like I will get you my model number and pic of mine tomorrow. Shortly afterwards Portar Cable started making the exact model I can get you a photo of that too if you like. I was told they bought Flex but I really don't know that to be true but it is the exact same just differant color. I have had mine for years and never had a problem what so ever.

I watched an interesting video comparison and thread when I googled Flex XC 3401 vs Porter Cable 7424. Not suggesting its a comparison relative to the models discussed in this post, but interesting to hear the different opinions.
