Body filler in Texas heat

Working in and out of my garage so any secret to applying Rage Gold before it starts setting up in 3 minutes? Small batches at a time? Today I mixed barely two palm size amounts and was able to take 4 or 5 dabs out of it and apply to the panels before it was done.

No I understood. Heard other good things about Ultra but with what I do wanted to finish up the Gold first.

I don't believe there would be a problem mixing the ultra extra with rage gold. They also sell it in the foil pouches, if you just need a small amount. It really slows down the cure a lot.

Since we don't deal with extreme heat for much of the year, the strategy here is to simply come in early and do any filler work first thing, before it gets ugly.

The Ultra Extra can also be mixed in with the evercoat glaze's. Without it when it gets warm glaze will kick over in 30 seconds even using less hardener. I use it with glaze probably more than with filler.

You can also get it in the Evercoat Edge Line. It's called Sync. Most Evercoat jobbers should have it. Marketed towards Shops, it's a fair bit cheaper than regular Evercoat branded products. I use the filler, glaze and Sync.

Filler: http://www.theevercoatedge.com/images/ePIM/original/TDS_200522-EDGE-PREMIUM-FILLER-7.2017.pdf (equivalent of Rage Ultra)

I wish I could trade summer weather with you, but not the winter :) The low last night was 83, and the humidity was horrible. Sprayed a Dodge 3500 crew cab Friday (less the roof) with Euro mixed 4:1:1 with slow hardener, 895, and 2 caps retarder in 28oz. By the time I got around it, where I started was barely tacky. Started second coat immediately, and by the time I got around it, the clear didn't want to melt in to to the back of the cab where I started. Amazing what this heat and humidity does to all these materials.

TK, your weather you could do 2-3 ounces for that 28 ounces. Sneak up on it but I would do roughly that amount all the time here in the Summer with the Euro. 4:1:1 and 2 ounces for roughly that same amount in a liter cup. We don't have quite the humidity (thank god) you do but the temps in the booth were consistently above 95 and sometimes above 100. 2-3 ounces would probably help keep it open long enough to get around it.

I am considering substituting retarder for the reducer next time. It actually came out real nice as far as texture and gloss, just couldn't believe how fast that first coat tacked up spraying that small of an area :) Seriously, substituting half of the reducer for retarder would have probably been perfect on the second coat. I don't know what the actual temp was, but I cleared it late afternoon, and the heat index was 110-115 that day. Normally I would have just waited until Saturday morning, but we had to go racing!

Afterwards I cooked some steaks and slow roasted a pig on these panels. Came out great. Low & slow.
