Big project-spi black basecoat

good afternoon and happy new year.

I haven't painted a car black in 8 years. And it was the first car I painted. Have learned quite a bit since then.

I have an overall paint job in the next couple months. Right now the car is on a rotisserie and in spi 2k high build. Next step is guide coat and 180.

What has been done was...the car was completely gutted. We got the quarters and shell in bare metal using some blue sponge looking discs on a grinder. Then 80 grit on DA. 2 coats spi epoxy. Filler work on the quarter patches that were done. And on the shell. Then slick sand and 80 grit then 2 more coats of slick sand and 80 grit. And then spi 2k and thats where its been for a month. (Got sick)

The customer wants it black. My question is. Urethane sealer (never used) or epoxy reduce (always used)..and if so...what color? Black? And what grit should I take the primer to? 400? I usually go 600 wet , but I have also never used spi basecoat, or.black for that matter. I will be asking more questions as I go. Here are some pic of the work so far. This is going to be my 7th impala painting. I did the chassis for him and had a mobile sand blaster come out and do the floors inside and out

Blocked it again with 180 yesterday and started on the trunk. Alot of real estate in these cars. We also did a little molding and heater core delete on the firewall

Been working on this thing every Saturday here is some update. Bare metal on the doors and epoxy. Doors are really solid but have some wicked dents. The fenders are in the first round of high.build. ready for 180 grit. The trunk as well. The shell is still sitting ready for 400 or 600. Probably paint it with the doors on the car

Haven't updated much because its primer and blocking. But we got the doors fenders and misc parts in 600 grit wet. With no real break though. I'm using acrylic blocks for the large areas and a selection of durablocks and pvc pipe for small and curved areas.

Perhaps some can check my approach. Tomorrow should be in the 70s. I plan to seal parts with epoxy mixed 1 1 1 around 10am. Black. Then come back around maybe 4p and spray spi black base, wet coats. I plan to do 3 coats of color. 30 mins between coats. Then Monday around 3pm come in after work and hit them with euro clear 4 1 1.5 mix 30 mins between coats for 3 coats. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
