well it looks like ppg is looking to buy them. those who use it should be glad it was not valspar .

Wow, lots more unemployed people if this happens, damn shame.
Although I heard rumors about year to two years ago, so it all makes sense as to why.

akzo nobel is the biggest paint company in the world.....so I'm told anyway. I find it hard to believe ppg could buy them as a whole. like in the past they may sell of certain product lines. that I would believe. if I remember right a few years back I believe ppg bought something of theirs. it was an architectural paint line. don't remember the details. you have peaked my curiosity though.

just did a google search. it was glidden. ppg bought that from akzo a couple years ago....or maybe that's finally going through now...

PPG bought Glidden huh? I've noticed a few ppg house & commercial paint stores pop up around Jacksonville lately. Talked to a paint rep last weekend looking at a quicker drying paint for some general door stuff at work.

I think the problem here is that both companies are atleast close to the same size. saw some #'s in another article. I think its just too much for ppg to pull off. it would have to just about go broke to make the purchase. who knows but I think its a bit more than ppg can afford and it will never go through.
