Is the metabo any good?Makita, metabo, flex are prob your 3 best choices. Depends on your needs. Metabo and flex make lightweight, compact and powerful ones while flex and makita make full size ones.
Wow, that sounds impressive. Does it have the size 5/8 hook up like the Makita? Does it have the soft start?i had a makita for 12 years. thing is a workhorse and not too heavy for a full size buffer. when mine finally bit the dust i got the metabo. its a bad ass buffer. really powerful for its size and lightweight as well. its has a really high build quality. i have been very impressed with it. it is a smaller buffer though so dont expect to really lean on the thing for long periods of time. it will shut down on heat safety. i have had that happen to me maybe 3 times in 2 years. it was only when doing a large flat area like on a boat. you really shouldnt be leaning on it like that anyway. never hot in your hand though. i have heard that complaint about the smaller flex's. i dont regret the metabo at all. was prob one of the best tools i bought. i found the best price at homedepot.com. makes returns easy as well
Wow. So you would buy it over the Makita?soft start and std 5/8 arbor.
Ok thanks.depends on what your doing. makita is a full size buffer. metabo is a mid size buffer. for general a color sanded paint, buffing or detailing on cars, motorcycles etc, i would buy the metabo because its a great quality piece, its easier to manage and lighter. if i need the power of a full size buffer then i would go with the makita. my makita i would also use as a disc sander for stripping cars, sanding my deck and buffing boats etc. dont expect a mid size buffer of any brand to do the job of a full size makita, dewalt, milwaukee. like comparing an f150 to an f350 diesel truck.
