Anyone have experience in making a jig?

I'm a little jealous that you have enough free time to be considering such a project. I've been turning away interesting projects left and right as well as neglecting my own rides, nose to the grindstone and all that.

Well I just finished up a big job (almost a year). I didn't post anything about it because the owner of the truck didn't want me to post anything on the Internet. He's kinda paranoid. ;) So I decided that this is my priority now. I need to have something to get my name out there, and to be able to show outside my area, cause there are no customers around my area for the work I want to do. These cars have pretty decent value when finished as well. Been accumulating Z parts for the last 10 years so I have nearly everything, have some savings, zero debt, so I'm approaching this one as my job for the next year. 12+ hours a day, every day, except for Church on Sunday.:) I'll make some extra money making extra parts and selling them online, as I'm working on it. Jap cars are pretty hot now and if I don't go ahead and get at least one of the three I have done, I'll never do it. I gotta do something to try and get the type of customers that I want. So just taking a leap of faith, believing in myself and hopefully things will work out. :)

I searched for months to get cheap i beam to make a frame table, but I agree, working that out to double as a rotisserie will make you really happy. Kindigit used basically a frame under the car on theirs and you run the up posts to the support areas. I would just suggest bracing the hell out of it before you move it too much. We built a 4 link subframe for the 67 Camaro, now its in the booth with a simple 2x2x.25 square tube stand where the leaf springs used to bolt into way in the back so we dont paint the newly powdercoated rear subframe.
Most of the rotiseries you can buy are .188 thick, which I just do not agree with, so we built our own. The only .188 is on the slide to raise and lower the car to get the right telescoping action. I was also really surprised how well the Bond Floor locks work on this thousand pound table. Ended up getting the 4TL model on ebay for about 22 a piece. I put all 4 on but lock 2 corners and the table does not move.

Chris good luck. Also would bench fixtures off a Blackhawk bench help you?
Thank you Sir for the offer. Appreciate it.:) More than likely I'm just going to use the Factory measurements and build my jig that way. I was overthinking it some.

So after a week of working on this rust bucket I have decided that I'm not going to repair it.:( Just too far gone in too many places. I do have two other 240's one of which is just a rolling shell but is actually nearly rust free. It is also a 71. I have a title for it and am going to use this car as a donor car and restore that one. Should save months of work. I was being greedy and trying to fix all three, but the rust on this one is just so extensive it would be insanity to even try to save it. Half the cowl, half the firewall, both rails, rockers, just too far gone. So thanks guys for the advice and help.

I am almost feeling spoiled working of first gen camaros where just about everything is available repop. it really makes you have mad respect for the guys that can make all the rotted out parts by themself. Even the 66 Chevelle is full of repop stuff, well, everything but the panel between the main floor and the trunk floor unless you buy both already complete. Maybe you will still get to this eventually, seems you have a sickness for them having 3.

Believe me I tried to justify a way to fix it....:D it's just too far gone.

Good plan but like you I want to save them all.
