Any experience with the new Sata Jet B 5000 RP?

Just like the title says, has anyone had a chance to try the new SATA RP 5000 , preferably with a 1.4 tip ?

I just held one in hand last week and I was very close to pulling the trigger, no pun intended lol, but it was the 1.3 tip and I'm not sure that's
the ideal size to spray the Universal 2.1 and Euro 2.1 VOC clears, or if I wanted to spray the SPI Matte Black that specifically calls for a 1.4 tip.

I have seen a few posts on refinishing network forum and a couple of videos online, but that doesn't really tell me much since I have
never sprayed with SATA before I have no point of reference as when people say "it is faster than the 4000" or "almost as fast as the 3000".

I currently use the Iwata LPH-400 1.4 Tip and it does a great job for collision work, except when it comes to painting a BIG complete vehicle,
then you can really feel the 'slow and deliberate' description that this guns get, I just wish the LPH-400 was a bit faster.

Thanks for all your comments and suggestions in advance.

I was going to ask this same question.. I've been using a W-400 for a while now.

Is that the 'regular' W400 or the newer SuperNova one you have Chad?

Also what size tip do you run on your W400?

I also have a W400-LV4, and I do like it except it's a 1.3 tip and I have this silly idea in my head that I NEED a 1.4 to be able to spray all SPI products and not ever
run into issues of the 1.3 over-atomizing the paint. And also I don't think I can use it to spray the Matte Clear and the Matte Black with a 1.3 without risking a redo.

So I think I will sell it and try the new Sata 5000. And well, it's nice to buy the latest and greatest marketing hyped-up stuff once in a while lol.

I've used the 1.4 and 1.3 in my LPH400LV and the 1.3 works fine for me, but I may be a slow painter? The fluid knob is never all the way out-even with a 1.3 fluid tip.

How many turns out from closed do you spray at with your LPH-400LV Bob?

I'm also very curious as to what you guys prefer to use for a basecoat gun and what tip sizes.

Shine will smack me in the side of the head for typing this but........ I always have to 'fight' my LPH-400 1.4 with orange cap with some bright metallics, most of the time I have
to switch to the purple cap to even things out. I know its user error, but damn if some other guns seem easier to spray metallics with.

Will either go SATA RP or a TEKNA soon for a basecoat gun.

Thanks for all your comments.

I've had the W-400 for about 5 years now. It's the one that has the split tip on the fluid tip though. The supernova is LS-400 if I am remembering correctly.

I also have a LPH-400 and a Supernova as well. I like the supernova the least but I may give it a try for base coat

Has anybody in here used the supernova for base? Thoughts?

I usually shoot UV with the fluid tip turned 2.5-3 turns out but I spray slow compared to some. There's really lots of things that come into play here... If I'm shooting a flow coat over sanded clear I want a really thin slick coat on the first round, the second gets applied heavier as it has the first tacked up coat to hang onto. If I'm shooting something thick like Sikkens Rally Black (the stuff is like tar) then it takes more air pressure. If I shoot a jamb or small parts I'll dial down both the air and the fluid for the job at hand-IMO there's no sense in fighting with a big pattern and volume when you're trying to spray in hinges and crevices getting everything wetted the right amount. I use an old Sata Jet 90 for basecoat most of the time. I'm starting to feel like a dinasour with all the new guns that are out.

yeah me too. i used to be all hot on the new guns that were out. now i just stick with my lph-400 with the orange cap for base and the 3000rp for clear. no real need or desire at this point to upgrade my guns especially when the crazy price of the 5000.
