ADVICE NEEDED ON UV CLEAR

Hello my name is JC Daniel and I am a novice painter who has only 7 jobs to my credit, I used uv clear on my last job with great results. My question is this, Will a Sata 5000 rp 1.2 be sufficient to spray uv or will the tip be too small? I have the Sata ordered along with an Iwata lph 400lv 1.4 as Barry advised me on these 2 guns, I got a killer deal on the Sata and could'nt pass it up so if it won't spray the clear I will keep it till I can get a bigger tip. Should I reduce the uv 4000 or spray it 1-1? Thank you so much for any help or advice.

The UV has never been sprayed through any 1.2 tip, I have had many painters try that were using Spies or Standox so called high solids where they recommend a 1.2.
NOW if any gun can spray it with a 1.2 it would be the Sata 5000 RP, so let us know.

The iwata lph400 with that 1.4 tip will spray uv fantastic. I wouldn't even attempt spraying uv through a 1.2. you'll be there for days trying to lay it wet without triple passing it.

Rumor has it the 5000 RP 1.4 is like a 1.6 I was told, that is the only reason I said the 1.2 in that gun might work.
As fact is, no other 1.2 will spray it and a lot of 1.3's won't either.

very true indeed. I spray both an iwata lph 400 and a 5000rp 1.4 with uv and euro, and certainly have to really cut back material with the Sata or tons of texture. I havent compared needle sizes but now i'm going to my gun box and pulling them out for comparison lol.

That's the reason I asked if the Sata 1.2 would spray uv because the tips are supposed to be over sized, The last job I sprayed the uv and euro with a Devilbiss copper 1.3 tip with fine results. I have not much experience painting but love to learn, I really appreciate the help.

I accidentally used a 1.2 tip in my tekna clearcoat gun with the hv25 cap and this is how it came out. Not perfect but it did spray, and I think it could be cut and buffed to look great. I'm sanding it all with 800 tomorrow and spraying 3 more coats. I'll be sure to use the 1.4 and post final pics in a few days. Btw those are rain drops as the car was outside getting its uv rays and of course got bought in the rain.

That gives me more hope for the rp 1.2, Can you post pictures of the finished spray?

This is right after 3 coats with the 1.2 tip. It layed a little flatter after sitting in the sun all day. I always spray with a 1.3 but reminded myself to switch to the 1.4 before spraying the clear and accidentally grabbed the 1.2 instead. I planned on sanding after 3 coats anyway as per "the perfect paint job." Do I have to block sand at this stage or can I use 600 on the orbital to save my arms? Planning to block sand after final coats anyway.

I sanded after 3 coats started with 1500 dry and then 3000 wet then buffed with the 3m system and my customer said the job was better than the other the big body shop done 3 months ago. That made me feel a lot better as I had picked at everything and found out I am not going to please myself.

in my personal opinion always better to block sand if you plan on reclearing. Clear being sprayed over top of super flat clear = Magic.
