ADVICE NEEDED ON SATIN WHITE PEARL

I am about to fix a few small places on my daughters car while she is on break this summer, The car is a 2014 Subaru impreza and the color is satin white with a mid or pearl coat. I plan on blending within the rear door and the roof, Do you guys have some tips to help me spray this without causing me too much of a fuss?

Just from production painters, I talk to you must do a few let-down panels.
Spray your white and then do one coat of Pearl, next one do two coats of pearl and if guess next on three coats.
See where the match is as every coat of pearl will change color.

Not sure if this shows up,but, I did as Barry said. Get your ground coat to coverage. Then spray a coat of mid over the whole card. Then tape it off on each coat. Screenshot_20210626-181344.png

Agree with the Boys on the letdown card, but I never had time for them. Rule of thumb I have from my experience is two coats of mid-coat on OEM stuff. I have also found that the color/shade doesn't change that much on most stuff especially pearls over white when spraying either two or three coats. But two coats will work for 95% of the stuff out there.

As for your car JC, give yourself a little extra blend room if you can. That will help with doing the blend. Remember you have to blend the base, then blend the pearl midcoat. So it takes a little more space. OEM pearls aren't that hard to do, especially over white, so you'll be fine.:)

Took me 20 minutes after I didn't do it the first time. So, I had to wait until the clear dried to redo. You've got time.

I really appreciate all the help guys, The spots are going to be small so hopefully the blend will work out as I have the whole door to do so. The roof is a small place also but is right on the edge near the black trim, I now feel confident with you guys guiding me!

One more question, Can a small ding be masked off and painted or will it be better to touch it up with an artist brush?

My experience JC, touching up dings makes them look worse. And trying to spot it in doesn't work well either. Proper repair and blend is the only thing that satisfies me. I guess it depends on your expectations.
