A Big Thank You.

I know others have said it before but I want to thank Barry and all the guys who post here for maintaining a no nonsense website.
It is such a relief to know you can come here and get accurate instruction and advice given in a professional and courteous manner without all the garbage posts you get on other sites.
I hardly ever tell anyone about SPI's website for fear they will contaminate it. :D

Thank you all.

Jim

Couldn't agree more Jim. Thanks to everyone, especially Barry and crew for making such a great product

Thank you guys and I agree 100% about the posting.

Not to worry, but I have a feeling a person would getaway with about one bad post and Dub or Chris would have them gone in no time.
I don't think they have ever had to do that and hope they never will need to take that kind of action.

Most important, I think someone new reads some of the posts on here and if they are a website trouble causer, I think they get a clue real fast that this place is not the place for them.

you obviously never visited chevy talk , hr.com or a corvette site. 0 respect for the professional who does it for a living.

No, havent been to any of those sites. I came here for the professional opinions. I'm just a garage hack.

Well, I wouldn't put myself in the same category as you guys with the paint but I notice this trend on many different websites. In my line of work some padawan's question your methods or judgement as a pro and I have been at that for 20 years. The internet has created experts who have read too much and done too little. It is hard to separate the wheat from the chaff.

This list does that, I have learned a ton.

i started in a barn with a dirt floor. when we got to a 1 car garage i thought i had it made. nothing wrong with doing it yourself. nothing wrong with learning and asking questions. i love helping guys with it. i also do the complete build from frame up so i even have a little to offer there. but when some one hit wonder goes to telling me how i need to do it i get a little testy. i talked barry into helping on a corvette site only to see him attacked by a couple of weekend warriors one who was in his early 20's. those sites are on their own now. just like hr the true painter have left.
you come here for help you will get it. there is a wealth of knowledge here. even this old dog has learned from the painters here.

I will chime in here...

Thank you all for the kind words.

Believe it or not people have been banned and or deleted from this site. Keeping up with spammers and undesirables is almost a full time job. BUT, it's a labor of love. When people are accepted to joint the site they are closely watched. I check every profile, every email address, and every IP address before new users are accepted. And sometimes that isn't enough. I check the site at least once an hour 18 hours a day. It may seem like a lot but after a year of doing so it is just first nature to me. It took weeks! to rebuild this site and make it almost bullet proof. The rest is on us. We have many moderators on this site. Each and everyone of them has my cell phone number and is welcome to call me 24 hours a day if there is a problem. I can do most of the daily maintenance from my smart phone so even on vacation sitting on the beach I could kept a watchful eye on this place. So between all the moderators and myself we do everything we can to keep this site what it is!!

Now please do not be afraid to have people join the site. Chances are if someone IP address was banned from another site we will know before they are even accepted and they will be closely watched and dealt with accordingly. No worries. If you know me you know when I say no worries I mean just that. So advertise on any site you see fit. We have a facebook page and a hub garage page to bring more people to our happy hang out. And we have gotten quit a few new people from both sites. So there it is. Enjoy it, and rest assured we have this place covered! :)

We all learn here, and I'm glad to be a part of it. Share the knowledge. It's places like this that get the novice up to speed asap-I wish I would have had access to information like this years ago. Shine, if you could download everything you know about the work that you do and transfer it to someone that's just starting out-wouldn't that make a great place to start from?

I do know he will have you deported if you don't have your Texas visitors visa!

rules is rules............... visa required .

you screw up as much as i have your bound to learn something .

This is the only site I know the people and advice are the real deal! That's why I'm here every day, very educational , inspiring and amusing at times!
I'm appreciative for all Dub's prowling here..... to keep all the bs, trash talking and politics found on other auto-body sites where it belongs, somewhere else!
Thanks to all!

Hi guys, thought I'd chime in...Barry has been AMAZING and is ALWAYS helpful and willing to help me with my endless questions on products. I typically view this site daily, always looking for a new and exciting topic...I still need to learn how to post pics, my camera takes a high resolution photo that is often oversized to upload..?? Great site, love the posts with pictures, seems like a great crew of people on here that are very helpful.

The knowledge I have gained from this sight is immeasurable. I could have taken a class at the community college and not learned nearly as much as I have here. I have since lost interest in the other forum I followed, due to the BS and fat opinions. I have found that if you have a question, no matter what level of experience, you'll find the answer here. I haven't tried to turn anyone else onto the forum, but have pushed SPI products a plenty. You guys do an amazing job of keeping this sight relevant. For that, I say THANK YOU!

I ran a different autobody site for years. It got to the point that I couldn't even post anymore due to all the hate mail I got. I sat around hitting the delete button nonstop. People hated me for it. But that site is part of the reason I am here. The same people that helped me there brought me here. I have to say I am even happier here! this forum is everything I had envisioned the other one to be. The difference here is we have all of you behind us, and this post proves it. And if something gets removed here don't even ask why. We get together and discuss the option to keep it or remove it. It is a joint effort. The moderators are not listed for the simple fact that there will be no hard feeling towards them. I will always take full responsibility for any and all actions on this site.

Now I would like to thank everybody for making this site a great place! We can only do so much. The rest fall on you, the users. And I am happy to say we have only used the delete button once or twice. Normally it's the new users that will start the trouble, but they are dealt with immediately. So everyone, give yourselves a big pat on the back! Because you are the reason we have an awesome site!
