76 K5 Blazer

A lot of material and time in this top. Epoxy, poly primer, epoxy, Turbo primer, epoxy sealer then b/c. They were semigloss with a bit of texture from the factory afaik but we are making it gloss to match the cab roof. Inside just got a couple coats of white epoxy.

Must be strange not painting something SS black eh Don?:)
No black jobs planned for this year so far. ;). My customer who builds all the black cars is slowing down. He has a 70 Chevelle he wants done but I don’t know what color.

Wait til you see the color of my 59 El Camino. :)

Not only is the finish amazing, it's very motivational to me. Speaking for myself, as I'm sure other beginner painters, it's what we hope to be able too do one day.

Thanks for sharing.

LPH400 LV with a 1.4. 2.5 turns out fluid. Skooch less than full fan. 26-28 psi. 50% overlap. Slow activator. 1 ounce of retarder per sprayable quart on last coat. And some good luck…

All learned from others on this site.

Don
That sounds really familiar. LOL

Excellent job by the way.

I've been thinking of a new gun, what's a good place to get an LPH400 LV with the right cap for a decent price?

Autobody tool mart is $639.45 without a cup (I use Dekups). https://www.autobodytoolmart.com/product/anest-iwata-center-post-gravity-fed-hvlp-spray-gun-lph400lv

Summit is $499 with a 700 ml cup, is it the same gun?

Do you have any recommendations for flash times, and is there a minimum temp for doing 4 coats?

I do a full 30 minutes measured from when I finish spraying a coat. I heat my booth and shop to 75 degrees. The temperature drops a little while I spray with the shop man door open but my propane heater brings it back up quickly. Electric space heater in the booth. Fan and booth lights off between coats. Heat on for 24 hours after spraying.

I also keep my paint materials in the house overnight before I spray.

I don’t know if all this is needed but it’s what I do.

Does the gun in the Summit link I posted above look like the same one you're using? Other than EBAY which In don't like to use, that seems to be the cheapest option.

Looks like the same gun. Just unsure which air cap is included. Most likely silver which is what I use for clear.

Yes, but it doesn't include the cup.
It has the 1.4 Silver Cap from what I can tell by the review posts.
I have used it for Epoxy Primer, Base and Clear on a lot of jobs.

Bought mine used off eBay years ago for $200. Gave it a thorough cleaning and it has been a great gun. A few years back, I put new seals in it.
