64 Bennett 966 Gas Pump

Pulled this one out of a farmers field in central Texas some years back. Too rusty to tell what markings it completely had but there were faded ARCO decals on the doors. Turned it into a Sinclair HC pump that my intent was to put a solar cell in and set it on my back patio so it lights up everytime the sun goes down. Turned out much nicer than I anticipated so inside it goes and looks well in my entryway. I have two more so next one will be Shell. Maybe that one will sit on my patio.

SPI Epoxy, Featherfill, PPG Concept Single Stage Black, Green, White. Thanks to everyone who answered my questions about this and that and if you want to polish ANY finish correctly... read & listen to '63 Coronet R/T because his method works.

very nice job!! i did one of these some years back. it sits on my deck. about 7 years now outside so it could use some cleanup again. i actually took my globe on top and made it into a double faced clock. not crazy about the gastime name but someone had me restore this for them and was for her boyfriend of 16 years who owned a gas station called gastime. he made the unfortunate move of breaking up with her 2 weeks before i got this done. at that point she didnt finish paying the bill for the resto so i kept it. his loss is my gain i guess.

Looks good Jim. A Tokheim is on my list.. those are clean and simple like the Bennetts I think. It'd be easy to change that to something else.

I will use BC/CC on my next one. SPI Med Red matches the Shell signs I have rather well.

i have a few oil lubesters i have done over the years. i really like doing those. i did 3 of them for a customer all in different brands and he gave me a 4th one for me to keep for myself. i have had it sitting here for years. just havent had a chance to do anything with it. i really wanted to turn it into a beverage cooler for my deck but it would be a really complex undertaking. i just dont have the time. maybe one day. im not in a rush for it.

I find most oil & gas items a lot of fun to restore. Compared with a car or truck you just achieve results faster and get to do the same stuff on a smaller scale.. welding, dent repair, bodywork, paint, polish, chrome trim...etc etc. After finishing this pump I swear i've had no less than 25 people already say.. "can you pump beer out of it?" Must be my pick in friends.

What a beautiful job well done. It's funny how the farther away we get from days of old, the more we cherish those things that take us back in time.
