Question please:

I have a 72 Corvette I am painting Bryar Blue, metallic, never painted a Corvette before, finishing up body work with VPA, plan to SPI epoxy, SPI 2K, then block/sand multible times, then PPG, then SPI universal clear. BTW, great how to paint writeup by SPI, Thanks!

Question on paint guns:
I got a Northern Vaper 1.4 coming for the SPI epoxy per Shine in another post
I got a cheapy 2.5 for the 2K in hand
I got a NR2000 1.3 used that I could use for the PPG base that I had planned on selling to help pay for all of this, LOL's!
planning on using a 5000B RP 1.3 for the SPI clear

Should I use the 5000B RP for the PPG and the SPI clear?

Or use the NR2000 1.3 for the PPG and the 5000B for the SPI clear?

Got 3 C3's to paint so more opportunities to get this right!

Lots of ways to do this I guess, all feedback appreciated.

Or use the NR2000 1.3 for the PPG and the 5000B for the SPI clear?
==================================

Exactly right as your NR will not shout the SP clear, it will work on some of the PPG spot repair clears. Maybe.

Much thanks for the reponse! This website is great and very educational.

So, if I understand correctly, better (if possible) to have a separate base gun and clear gun. And the NR2000 1.3 would be a better choice for the PPG base than a 5000B RP? Although, I suppose you could shoot the PPG base with the 5000B RP if you wanted to?

The NR2000 really shoots basecoat well. It does not do as well with clear. I still use a 2000 1.3 for basecoat (rebuilt the gun several times) in my work. I also use a 5000 RP 1.3 for clear. That gun is pretty much clear only except on the rare occasion that I shoot single stage. Works great for both.

Your situation the NR2000 would be a good choice for base. The 5000 RP would be what you want to shoot your clear with.
