3m performance

Hi, I have a 60 gallon 3.7 compressor. I'm using the 3m Performance spray gun. It seems ok but I feel like it uses a ton of air and I have to move so fast with this gun I'm nearly running when I'm spraying. I keep looking at the iwata wider4l.... I'm sure its wishful thinking that there's another gun out there that will solve all my problems and give me a glass finish.... Anyone have any opinons on the 3m performance and whether I really may see some gains with a more conventional gun or am I dreaming?

yes, if its spraying too fast then adjust the gun so it doesnt put out so much material then dial back the pressure if needed to account for less material. its all in adjustments. not sure how good 3m's gun is. i dont see any advantage to having a throw away plastic head. only advantage is for 3m in lining their pockets and keeping you on the hook buying their products. thats their whole business model.

I clean the heads but yeah if I could go back I would have just got something more permanent. Not sure why I’ve been hesitant to dial back the fluid. It seems most people recommend spraying it with fluid wide open but I’m getting very fine orange peel and like I said I have to really move. Moving so fast when being so new isn’t good. My heart is pumping and I’m making all kinds of stupid mistakes. What am I looking for when dialing back the pressure? Just that it’s going on slicker?
