3M Accuspray with DeKups

Has anyone using the 3M Accuspray tried using Devilbiss Cups and Lids? PPS liners and caps are outrageous in cost. I have some nice high end spray guns but have considered this for a primer gun if I can get the liner/cap cost down. Switching tips is not a deal breaker for me at $5 per tip and 5-12 shoots per tip. Adding $4.50 for liner and cap is a deal breaker. The cost of DeKups would be under $2.00.

See if you can get a hold of the Norton system and if you like it. That one I have used with the 3M gun and it worked very well, it is cheaper than the PPS system, although a bit cumbersome to lock the lid and liner together.

The diameter of the NORTON and the 3M Accuspray gun fit perfectly, you just slide it in and it feels snug and secure.

Norton discontinued their cup system as far as I know.

Thanks Ksungela, I will check that out. So how do you like your Accuspray?

No adapter needed? How do you like the Accuspray for a primer gun?

You can reuse the 3m liners and lids with primer for several times. Just let it dry in the liner and it pulls away from the sides and the lid. The bits that don't pull away can be blown off with air. I pull the filter out to begin with. Works great! Clear and base doesn't work like that though

Im mostly consider it for primer gun, so that would work great. The one I ordered is without the pressure hose that runs from the gun to the cup. Im thinking if its for primer only, the pressure hose optiion might be good for heavy bodied primers. The high pressure guns with the pressure hose and the regular accuspray guns are not the same handle.

I like it for smaller work, if I had to spray a complete then I use the SATA primer gun better.

Also I don't work at any particular body shop since I'm a mobile jobber for SPI products. A lot of the shops I meet they already use the 3M PPS cups and it's just easier to demo the primers with the 3M accuspray gun with the 1.8 nozzle.

I also have a friend that sprays Envirobase with iwata w400 or lph400 with the PPS adapters and the NORTON system and has no problems whatsoever, he doesn't even bother to buy the correct NORTON adapters.

Keith, is that a photo of a 3M PPS cup after you have sprayed primer?

Yes it is. After a day or two of hardening. I dont disturb it at all and it will pull away on its own. Same happens in the plastic mixing cups. Get several uses on both with urethane primer and sometimes with epoxy.
