im fixing a crack in a bumper and some gouges. Ive prepped the plastic and used the flexible plastic parts repair on it but it will not adherer.
I used adhesion promotor and cleaned very well
Thoughts??
Its bumper cover to a hyundai elantra

How did you prep it, very important on this as a nasty bumper.
Give us also times and info on adpo and time for next product.

I stripped down paint. Ground down the dammaged piece that was "peeled" cleaned with waterborne let it sit out in sun. Then sprayed teo coats of bulldog adpro waiting 5 min between each coat and about 10 min before i applyed plastic repair. Plastic had a good tooth with 120 grit. I always hated repairing bumpers lol. I do have half a can of SPI ad pro but i believe it is past its shelf life. I got it last summer

I think your problem was adhesion promoter, what I would have done.
One med coat and waited for 30 minutes.

Bulldog sucks. Use SPI adpro or the adpro from your preferred basecoat manufacturer. Also SEM 39767 sticks the best out of everything I have found, but it gets really hard to sand, so needs thin coats.

Is my spi adpro no good anymore? I got it 6/16 stored in cool place and sealed

I just repaired a Elantra cover. I like to clean with SPI water clean first then Sem clean and skuff paste rinse with water and let dry good. Sand w/ 80 but not grind as to keep heat down then clean with Sem Plastic and leather cleaner wipe one way only. I like to use the Sem adpo a light coat before the Sem 39767 Problem plastic product. Again sand down but watch your heat build up. I have been doing bumpers for years with great success . Just my 2 cents worth.

Your two cents worth is absolutely 100% right on!
Common mistakes are too much adpro and too much heat.
I have in past when sanding a repair area with Duramix use a spray bottle of water to keep cool while sanding.

I have looked into one of those welders, but it seems like it's pretty hard to charge enough when many bumper covers are so cheap. It does look like a great way to do the repair, though.

I use the Steinel heat gun. I kind of have a reputation with my customers for doing cracks. They're easily impressed.
I also used a hot stapler to keep things in place until I welded up to it. Then I heat it and remove.

welding is always the best way to go. your not relying on a different product to fill and bond to the bumper. bumpers are thermoplastics. just melt it all back together then you have no repair area to fail on you down the road. if done right then a plastic pear can be brought back to 100% or better of what it was before the damage.

Is the adhesion promoter really necessary?
I just used 05887 two days ago on a VW Passat bumper. The car was backed into something and the lip of the aluminum bumper bar created a raised crease in the cover. I used a heat gun to get most of the big hump back out. Washed it down with dawn and water.
Hit the back side of the bumper with 36 grit on a roloc disc and applied a layer of 3m 04240 to give some meat incase the exterior work getting the high spots and cracks out made the cover thin.
Flipped it over and worked the contour of the exterior with 80 grit on the DA, blew it off and applied the 05887 directly to the bumper cover. I didnt use the stupid mixing nozzle. Pumped it onto the filler board and mixed it like any other filler product. Applied with a spreader just like filler. Sanded it with 220 last night just fine. Didnt have any bonding issues or peeling when sanding.

i really have to read what i typed before i click the post button.......wtf is a plastic pear lmao!
