2000 Harley Ultra Classic

As if I don't have enough to do I decided to paint my bike.
I had it apart to install gear driven camshafts and bearings. My fuel tank has a dent in it from the original owner but he had a brand new tank, still in the bubble plastic, for a price I couldn't refuse.
Here's my bike in the condition I bought it:

After a good cleaning:

I decided to paint it solid black and get rid of the pin stripes.
That meant sanding the brand new gas tank and repainting it.
This is SPI Black base coat and their Euro Clear as sprayed:

Comparison of H.D. vivid black (old tank) and SPI black:

When I do the side covers I will show another comparison of the blacks.

Looks great!
What's your take on the SPI black compared to the Harley black?
I have a tank only to do in black and don't want it to outdo the stock black to where it is noticeable.

SPI is a true black from what I can tell. The HD Vivid Black seams to have a slight brownish tint but that could be due to its age.
When I do the side covers it will be a better comparison.

the spi is blacker than the harley vivid black. not by an extreme amount but it is blacker for sure. it would be more like the jet black from one of the premium major lines...ppg, basf, etc.

Couple of more pieces done.

I am sure there are still fine scratches in the paint that will need to be polished out. Once I get it back together I will pull it outside and then reality will hit. LOL
On hold now while I wait for some parts to come.
