I haven't really posted much of the work I have been doing lately. Here is a 94 cobra convertible that I did this past spring for a friend. This started out with me just doing the blower tube and mounting the hood(no paint work) and his buddy was going to paint it. Apparently the fab shop that was doing some of the other work took longer than expected and he lost his place in line with the other painter. So I agreed to do the job. we ended up adding glass doors, sectioning the quarters to fit a 29"tire, painting the cage, yada yada yada. Anyways here are the pics. This car has the following materials on it.

spi epoxy (grey)
slicksand poly primer (2 rounds, heavy blocking)
spi 2k primer (final prime which was sanded for paint)
spi pure white basecoat
spi UV clear.

so, all in all....... Barry its time to make spi poly primer! lol

ok, onto the pics of this disaster!

starting point.. car was dropped off like this:

the photos may jump around. Anyways I did 2 rounds of poly primmer and 1 round of final 2k primer. I sectioned the quarters 2.75 inches which also forced me to have to cut down the rear bumper cover. I had to strip the car down to metal due to the 10+ paintjobs already on the car!

even did a custom removable dash. Here are some pics the owner sent me while he has been final assembling the car.

Those wheel openings don't even look like they were messed with, you got the lines just right! I've heard it said that the best repairs go unnoticed, lol.

thanks! That was the first time I ever did anything like that. It took me an evening to cut and weld both up and another night to finish the bodywork. I lucked out though, the car was already mini tubbed so the inner quarter was already cut away. I just had to open up the outer.

thanks bob. I haven't shared much in awhile so I have to catch up! I wish I could share what I do at work, but im back to using all PPG products again there.

I kind of wish I would have used the spi pure white single stage on this cobra. It would have cut down a lot of time. I just wonder how the gloss level is compared to the UV clear?

this is what was on the car and I wasn't even down to metal yet, lol!!!! there was still 4 layers to go!

Ready for action.

And his matching cart

Also did his other cart. I really like the production clear for these kinds of jobs!

Well the times are kept secret because they grudge race ut but I suspect it will run mid 4's in the 1/8th once its dialed in. Small block ford with an f3 procharger(chain driven)
