Well, I have my truck almost done. Put the bumpers and grill back on. Also the hood is back on. I sprayed the bedliner coating saturday. Got the truck washed. All I need to do now is install new Chrome Nerf running boards. I pressure washed the engine yesterday so its nice and clean. I'm going to try and send some pictures if I am able to. Having some problems with my computer. I replaced the tail lights with more modern ones that I think look nicer. I was able to do all this with the great help of you guys here at this forum. There are so many names that I would like to mention but I can't remember all the names of the guys that helped me like Don, texasking,68 coronet, and so many more. However, for all the others that I could not remember their names, please be sure that I am really gratefull for all your help too. I like this place so much that I am going to continue with this forum and hopefully learn some more of body and paint. Again, thanks. Some of the pictures might not be really clear. camera on my phone is not the best.

Thanks guys for all the good comments. Like I said before, there is no way that I would of done this job without all the great help that I got from all of you. This is a really good bunch of guys that will help with no strings attached. Greatly appreciated. Looking around for an old car or truck that I can buy to restore. Need to keep busy so I don't become a couch potato.

I have a question on when I am able to wax my truck. It will be 3 months on April the 9th that I painted my truck. Is that enough time to be able to wax the truck or just wait til its been 3 months? I have heard that I should wait about 90 days before I wax it but I want to hear it from the best here at this forum. Thank very much.

Thanks everyone with your help. I will order the wax that TK mentioned here in his post. The reason I want to wax my truck is to protect the paint from the heat that we get here in AZ, usually 115 degrees all summer. I have carports for my other 2 vehicles but this truck sits on the open all day, no shade at all. I could get a cover for it but since that is my favorite truck to use, it would be a pain in the S to remove and put back on. Thank you 68 coronet for your comment.

Ah, you must be in the lower elevations, like Phoenix.
Hopefully you put at least 3 good coats of clear on your truck. The clear is what protects your base coat from the UV rays that destroy it.

Yes, I did put 3 good coats of clear on it, hopefully that will help protect the paint. We are 47 miles south of phoenix. Elevation is only about 1400 ft.
Its hot in the summer but really nice winters. We usually take a trip to the white mountains where its nice and cool in the summer. Elevation over there is about 9,000 feet.

Well your only 3000' lower that I am. LOL

At that altitude you probably have good summers, what about 90 degrees? I have a question about a new gun. Even though my oldie gun sprayed both base and clear pretty good on my truck, I wanted to upgrade one step up to a new gun. I am not a professional painter by any means but I was thinking about buying a Devilbiss Starting Line hvlp gun kit. It comes with 2 guns and the cleaning tools. Do you think that this is a good decent gun to buy for now. Maybe later on I can buy an Iwata or something like that but for now, this one may serve its purpose. What do you think?

I can only recommend what I have used, and along the lines of what you are looking for, I can recommend the Tekna Copper. I use it as a basecoat gun but have also shot sealer and single stage with it. It's a decent gun.

Maybe some others have used the Starting Line gun and will chime in.

There is a recent thread (and many others) discussing gun options

Same here, the Tekna Copper is a nice gun. Mine came with a 1.3 and 1.4 tip set. Nice size fan and it is easy to clean.

Thank you guys for your suggestions and comments. I will read some of the threads that Dean mention here and also will check into the Tekna Copper gun this morning. Am I able to shoot both base and clear with this Tekna gun or just base? I still have my older spray gun that I can use for eighter base or clear. I shot both with that gun but it is getting pretty old and thats why I wanted to get a new one and not wait until this one quits on me in the middle of a paint job.

Yes, the Tekna Copper will shoot both base and clear.
I have the Tekna Prolite which is very similar and like it a lot.
Chris H. has pointed out in other threads that Devilbiss guns (they make Tekna) seem to wear out the seals faster than others. That happened to mine and I had to rebuild it, no big deal.

"What gun should I buy?" is kind of like asking "What car should I buy?" Lot's of good choices, lot's of opinions.
It all comes down to what it will be used for and personal preference.
There is a wealth of information in the threads on this forum that will help you make a decision.
You really won't go wrong with any of the top models discussed, in my opinion.
