Electric brake mock up!

So far so good and the new electric brake booster fits well and agrees with my C10 modifications.

Door update - long story short rebuilt the stock hinges and installed the door rollers from a Camaro (they fit well and are supposedly smoother than the truck but most importantly serviceable). The door gaps are not set I am just playing with how much hinge I have and where I’m going to need some fitment love.

The passenger side seems to like me. The driver side hates me and will require corporal punishment for further correction. I’ve got no weight in the doors yet but will simulate the 20-25 pounds of C10 door guts and glass.

Just playing around killing time waiting on the over promised and under delivered frame that apparently has been virtually sitting in my shop since August - I guess I haven’t noticed it appear yet…. Grrrrr…

Bed Fab is finally complete! I’ve welded the bed panel lift securely in place and finished the metalwork on the custom panels.

I’m eagerly awaiting the frame, which is rumored to arrive by the end of January. Once the frame arrives, I’ll be able to tackle the long list of tasks that await me.

I see at least 2 chassis in your shop. Are you sure one if them isn't for the C10? How many frame off projects have you got going on? WOW!

lol - good observation. This is my buddy’s shop, he’s a much better Fabricator than I am. So he’s been helping me and I’m learning how to bead roll and several of the tips and tricks of metal fab. I’m enjoying learning new skills and hope to use them more in the future.

Frame is done and I’ve been working diligently on system assembly. More pictures soon… whew this is a lot of meticulous work. I’m becoming an airline and fuel line bending fool!

Thats looking great!
Help me out here..Do i see air bags at about mid frame at cross member in the 1st pic?...
Yes sir. The bags are on the lower link. I’ll grab some more pictures from the side. I hope to have the air system done soon then I’ll get the wheels under it and you’ll be able to see the set up. It’s pretty sweet.

Was able to get the bed roughly done and fitted on the frame last night - lots of metal finishing to be done.

Some more shots of the frame. I was able to get the fuel systems and air lines all run. Using temp valves to set height

Whew! Cab square to the frame and locked down. I need to reset the bed to the cab and it’s going to need some love (not pretty). I’m beat - more soon.

Assembly going well. Close enough for now. I’ve got to get the air ride finished so I can get the stance right then I think the back of the cab and the front of the bed need to still come up a smidge.

Really looking forward to seeing this!
Careful, I’ll put you to work!

It’s my one man show so far. All my gear head friends are always welcome. The extra set of hands and brain are in high demand. I’ve been doing a lot of making stuff up as I go Fab to get things to fit right then plan fuel, air and electrical etc…

I’ll definitely pick your brain about my TiG welding , too. I’ve been going wild with aluminum lately and that’s complicated for me; with all the wave forms and pulse strategies. It’s fun but I haven’t got much of a clue.

I understand the one man operation. The only thing I had human help with was the windshield, but it did cut down on the amount of complaints about working conditions, delays, and substandard work.
I was approached by a guy while fueling up that asked who painted my car and asked for his business card. I told him I did. He had the look of disbelief, so I showed him pics on my phone.
Thanks to SPI and all the members even a welder has the opportunity to achieve favorable results.

Keep it simple with Tig aluminum. Don't worry about different wave forms, square wave is the best. Balance: 70%- and 30%+ is a good all around. Frequency; 90-120. Amperage: set maximum a little bit higher than required with the foot pedal matted. That allows for better control over the range. Pulse isn't necessary, useful in production set ups maybe but I prefer to use the foot pedal.
That said I welded tons of aluminum for decades with a plain Jane sine wave transformer, no balance (50-50), 60 cycle frequency until I switched to inverters.
