Finished the clearing today. This is going to be a drag car for a customer. Color is pb5, electric blue, off the new dodge trucks. really cool color.

I decided to use the 2.1 euro on this, considering its hardness compared to the universal that i hear everyone talk about...being a drag car and all. After using, i think i'm in love with it just as much as the universal!

IMO, it needs to be reduced for a good job. took me till the 3rd coat to get the reducer dialed in and speed...but on that last coat it was 4-1-1 very slow activator and reducer, and slammed it on. I think this clear is way more forgiving than the universal. Now i'll have 2 clears stocked on the shelf!

Also used wanda base on this, over spi black epoxy as a sealer 1-1-1. 3 coats and it matches the sikkens color variant chips. Stripped to bare metal, spi epoxy and turbo primer.

You're right that is a nice looking blue.
I haven't tried the Euro clear yet but I have read some posts with guys raving about it.

The standard Euro gets pretty hard to buff after a few days. I don't know about the 2.1, but I'd assume it is similar. Let us know how you do with it!

Looks real nice, btw!

I love that Euro.. I was always a Universal user until I used the 2.1 Euro.. Now its my favorite.. Dont get me wrong, I still love the universal, but that dang Euro just fits me perfect..

Jeremy I reduce it just the same.. I mix it 4:1:1 just as you did.. That way it sprays out like glass and just cant be beat in my opinion

i'm tellin ya, i slammed it pretty hard on that 3rd coat with my w400 and it just wouldn't take off. I believe if i would have done that with universal, it would have..just barely. Had a wanna-be on the left quarter of the camaro, with universal. Not taking anything away from the universal, still my main clear. Cant wait to use it again. Still have to clear hood, decklid and cowl screen.

as for the buffing, we'll see......dont think it should be too much of a big deal finished out with 3000. Prolly be more like the sikkens hs+ i was using before i found spi. Talk to a lot of guys that used the hs+ and they always complained they couldn't buff it out after a few days..i never really saw a problem.

I have buffed it at 2 weeks before and it buffed out fine.. I had finished it out to 3000 as your going to do, and it buffed like butter.. Just my take on it anyway

x2. When the Euro was first introduced it was hard to buff 3-5 days after spraying. Barry adjusted the activator just a smidge a gave it a longer buffing window. I love that you can adjust the way it sprays by adjusting amount and temp of reducer.

I had a really tough time a couple of times early on with waiting too long to buff, so now I am pretty hesitant to try waiting. But that was before the slight change in the formula.

As of now I use MS or Universal for jobs that need to wait for polishing.

cut it today, very noticeable difference in the hardness. Used 1500. I think a good bit of it has to do with being spoiled with using universal so much! Think it cuts like the big guys top dollar clears. Sikkens HS+ will get like this in the summer after a few days. will be fine for this project!

The thinking is that is is slightly more scratch resistant, this is also why it is harder to buff. So vehicles that will see a lot of use might benefit from it.

you're right, crash. this car is going to be at the drag strip and going across gravel and dirt a lot...just figured the euro would be good on it for scratch resistance. This way when they take their red shop towel out of their back pocket to wipe it down it wont get a million scratches in it. lol

Nice work! That car will look great at the track. Hope it doesn't get covered with a bunch of decals.
