Sprayed primer before the patch is welded in place





The welds were ground down and filled with duraglass



The new sheetmetal that had not been epoxy primed before was sanded to bare metal



Two coats of SPI red oxide epoxy primer. It is darker than the photos

 
When you fill the 1/4 to roof section which was originally leaded, do you just lay the piece right over the seam and weld it up? That's what it looks like but I'm just making sure, might be doing something similar soon.

Outside this is the color of the red oxide epoxy not how it looks in the booth with all the lights.

I have to do much the same with my 69. Doubt it'll turn out at this level though. I'll bookmark this page to use as reference of how it should be done.
 
The original fender extensions fit the new Dynacorn fenders

When you make patches yourself, how do you get the scale off the metal? Sheet metal just seems to destroy sandpaper and grinding discs.
