1968 Dodge Coronet R/T

Well after what seems an eternity I am finally able to get back to work on the R/T.
For those not familiar this is my personal car that I had a thread for on the old site. You can see the before picture and the current condition below.

looks great....keep em coming! need some inspiration to get back on my dart. she's so lonely sitting up on the lift.

So far it has new quarters, trunk floor and extensions, and lower window corners installed. The remainder of the metal is original and and in great shape.
My immediate plans are to install some parts I accumulated while doing the 65 Buick.
Headliner, sound deadening, carpet, roof rail seals, door seals, door weatherstripping, door and quarter glass, etc.
Still need new bucket seat foam, covers and door panels. I have a 4 speed console (for a 69 car) that will go in for now but needs a shifter boot ($160). The 18 spline 833 tranny needs new 1-2 and 3-4 synchronizer assemblies ($300) and a new 11" clutch assembly which I haven't even priced yet.
For the engine I had planned to put a stroker kit with new Aluminum heads in it but just don't have the $$$ so I'm building a zero deck, .040" over, stock motor except with the closed chambered 915 heads (1967) that have hardened seats and larger valves installed. Stock hp for the motor was 375 so with a decent cam I should be close to 500 hp when done.

That's going to be a fun car! What rear gears? I had 67 charger years ago, originally a 383-4 barrel/4speed car that was ordered with power windows! When I sold it there was a purple shaft cam, weiand tunnel ram/ 2 600's, 11-1 TRW pistons but the rear gears were never changed-the 150 speedo almost got buried a few times with the stock gears-glad the Sears bias ply tires held out....

Has the Dana 60 with 3:54 gears.
You definitely know how anxious I am getting to finish this thing up. Its been so long since I drove it that I think I'm starting to forget what throw you into the seat power feels like.

Installed the head liner.
Had to make some new sail panel boards and install and insulation kit.
The headliner doesn't look real bad but I am still not happy with some of the wrinkles but I haven't put any heat to them yet and hope that will help.
Any ideas or suggestions in getting this smoothed out would be appreciated.

What brand headlliner? PUI is the best because they stretch well. Some of the aftermarket headliners have the rod sleeves made of material that doesn't stretch and you'll never get wrinkles out on those. A heatgun followed by a spray mist of water will help shrink those wrinkled areas, basic spray bottle works.

Thanks Bob. The headliner is from Legendary and I believe the sleeves are exactly like you described. I kept trimming them as I stretched the headliner but there were times where I could hardly get it to move without exerting a lot of force.

I am trying hard to do so. Since the side work has dried up for now I have time - but no money. LOL
If I can get her done and on the street that should remedy the side work problem - I hope.

the last pic with the wrinkles in the sail panel - did you trim the bow loop ends really short or did you leave them long? I found when installing my headliner in the Datsun I probably cut them too short which made it harder to pull the material sideways thus removing the wrinkles. I did get it in though w/ minimum issues - just took a long time.

Of course I wished somebody sold an aftermarket headliner, alas no - but I did learn how to make my own.

Nice work on that Datsun. I always wanted to build one of those 1200's
