1967 Fairlane

Have to say I'd be partial to a good ol' FE block. A 427 medium rise would be an excellent engine for that car. Funny thing is that the FE came as a 352 way back when, too...

Seems like a small block 352 would be a bit of weigh saving over the fe block? The cj 352 seems like low hp to the cubic inch, but I also know that power is made with heads and cam.

The same engine with a little larger bore making it 363 is rated at 330 hp in the 2013 CJ.

My plan is to race in one of the SS/GT classes so I ordered a 427 fiberglass hood as a Christmas present for myself and it came in today.

I had to trim about a 1/4" off of each side and a little off the back block sanded and epoxy primed.

I had the headlight bezels polished and he now has the grille

I block sanded the fiberglass hood and added a little filler

Sprayed a couple coats of SPI Turbo primer
Looks good.

Today I block sanded again and sprayed two coats of black epoxy primer. I will paint the hood red before I'm finished but it will be awhile.

Steve Baur the editor of Modified Mustangs & Fords picked up the Fairlane to take it to their shop. While there they will be writing tech stories for future issues as they are installing the Painless wiring harness, Autometer tach and gauges along with a Flaming River steering box, column and steering wheel.

Sweet!
So with the magazine tech articles, does that mean you get somewhat of freebies?

Yes plus it helps offset all the extra free labor we are doing on their 1966 Mustang project car. It also gives them something different in the way of tech stories besides Mustangs.

Awesome! I know of a couple people that got their cars in either 5.0 or fast fords when Steve was writing for those magazines.

There has been a lot of people laid off at Source Interlink magazines in the last week and Steve Baur was one of them Friday. Not sure what will be done on the Fairlane now.

I know they canceled a few magazines as well.. I know Mini Truckin was one of them.. I wasn't aware of what magazines were run by them.

I just Looked up their site, they have a LOT of magazines.. Even one of my motocross magazines I am subscribed to...

The Fairlane was moved out of the storage warehouse this morning and waiting to get in the shop.

Ready to start installing the Painless wiring harness and control panel. Once this story is finished the magazine will be ready to go to the printers.
