1967 Cougar

You might try to get in touch with Don Rush at West Coast Classic Cougars. He knows the Cougar market as well as anybody. He's a stand up guy and if you explain the situation, he might be willing to help you with the pricing. He's also a good source for parts. His parts aren't cheap but you will get what he tells you that you'll get.
 
As a complete basket case, I was thinking along the 5-7k line as well, until I saw the home made floor patches that were beginner welded in. Sorry if that seems rude, but it is what it is. I can only imagine what the torque boxes and rear frame rails look like under that floor repair. No pics of the front floor, toe boards or frame rails and I would bet a steak dinner they have patches in them too. For me, every piece of that floor would need to be removed and proper repair panels welded in like factory and after having done half a dozen Mustangs like that, I can tell they are a lot of work. Looks like the primer was applied with a roller too.
As an example, just yesterday, I looked at a 1964 Chevelle, real SS, but missing the original 230 6 and powerglide. It is in much the same situation as this. It comes with a lot of the repair panels a rebuilt 283 with aftermarket heads and internals that was broke in and tuned on a dyno, and never installed along with a Muncie 4 speed. If the owner decides he can't get it back on the road, I may get it for $2,500...
You just aren't going to find much of a buyer pool for a car that dismantled to begin with and as I said, the work is not up to reasonable standards for safety.
It may, actually, be worth more as parts. The interior could bring some decent money for the right buyer and the drivetrain would bring some too, although not running and driving to test them is a big price reduction.
My wife says the same about all my "junk" and I tell her to get friends from the local clubs I'm in to help unload it all for anything she can get.
You're doing a great thing to help her and I respect that immensely. Sorry to hear she lost her husband so young and has to deal with this as well as the loss.

A 67 Fastback is the best of all regarding Mustangs IMO. Same goes for the 69 Camaro.
My favorite as well. Second is the '69 Mach 1.
Of course that is talking Fords.
I did own a 1968 Mercury Cougar, candy apple red with black bucket seats, while still in high school.
